Polina Kulykova

The mezzo-soprano Polina Kulykova hails from Ukraine, where she studied voice and piano. From 2019 to 2022, she was part of the opera studio at the Bern University of the Arts. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
She gained her first stage experience in Ukraine, performing as Odarka in "The Zaporozhian Beyond the Danube" by Hulak-Artemovsky, as Stecha in "Nazar Stodolya" by Dankevych, as Lyubasha in "The Tsar's Bride" by Rimsky-Korsakov, and as Carmen in Bizet's "Carmen." During the 2020/2021 season, she appeared as Orlofsky in "Die Fledermaus" at the Dornach Theater and as the Third Lady in "The Magic Flute" for "Youth for Opera" in Lucerne. Additionally, in the same season, she was seen at TOBS Biel/Solothurn as a soloist in "Zäller Wiehnacht" by Paul Burkhard and in the roles of Madre Maria and Choralto in "The Bridge of San Luis Rey" by G. Reutter.
At the Lucerne Theater, she participated in the 2022/2023 production of "STYX Tours." Moreover, during the same season, she took on the roles of the Princess, Robber Girl, and Lapp in the opera production of "The Snow Queen."
She won the 3rd Prize Elvirissima 2023 Young Voice at the singing competition of the Elvira-Lüthi-Wegmann Foundation.
In addition, she was invited in 2024 to perform two solo concerts at the Wagner Museum, one in the spring titled "Fateful Drama: The Martyrdom of Love" and the other in the autumn titled "The Music of Life: A Symphony of Eternity."
In January 2025, she will sing the role of the Drummer in "The Emperor of Atlantis or The Disobedience of Death" by Viktor Ullmann with the "Youth for Opera" association.
